Our Member Spotlight is on Anisa Zahir, HTP-A , Reiki Practitioner

Meet our Member Anisa!

Anisa is an Afghan-American Level 4 Healing Touch Apprentice and a Reiki practitioner. She is trained in mindfulness-based body-centered Hakomi psychotherapy and in mindfulness meditation and is a graduate of Stanford's year-long Applied Compassion Program. The pandemic shifted her life path from the education field to the healing arts, prompted by a spiritual awakening in 2019. Her awakening led her to find, practice, and eventually offer in service a path of self-healing. Using her knowledge of psychotherapy, mindfulness, compassion, and energy work helped her work through her traumas. Her passion for healing stems from the hope that everyone awakens to their inherent ability to heal and goodness and truth.

In this inspiring conversation, Anisa shares how she blends Healing Touch, Reiki, mindfulness, and Hakomi psychotherapy to support others on their healing path—and how the Healing Touch Professional Association has played a vital role in her growth.

In this interview, you’ll discover:

  • How a spiritual awakening during the pandemic shifted Anissa’s life path from education to healing arts.

  • The unique way she weaves together energy healing, mindfulness, and Hakomi psychotherapy to support clients.

  • The personal challenges she’s overcome—especially breaking free from what she calls the “tyranny of unworthiness.”

  • How she’s used her Healing Touch growth work to deepen her own self-care, boundaries, and ability to hold space.

  • A Reiki technique you can try—“Blood Flow Exchange”—to balance the body’s spinal energy flow.

  • The many ways HTPA has connected her to mentors, workshops, and volunteer opportunities that enrich her practice.

This interview can be found on the Member Spotlight page of the member site and is available to HTPA Community and Professional Members.
