Our Member Spotlight is on Heather Talley, RN, BSN, CNOR, HTCP, RYT-200

Meet our Member Heather!

Heather has worked as a surgical nurse for over 36 years in a large teaching hospital system in Wilmington, Delaware.   Recently retired, she has taken a deep dive into her yoga practice, reinventing herself as a yoga teacher, and as a Healing Touch Practitioner.

Heather’s healing Touch journey began in 2011, and she completed Level 5 with certification in 2014.  During that time, Heather actively sought to bring awareness to Healing Touch in the peri-operative setting by coordinating multiple unit-based and systemwide offerings for staff during Nurse’s Week, and for other occasions, with the support of local HTP’s.  Heather has been a breakout speaker at several hospital sponsored symposiums, and organized as lead speaker an introduction to Healing Touch presentation for the local AORN chapter in 2017.  Previous to retirement, she assisted the newly created Integrative Care Program in bringing Healing Touch education to nurses, and had been working on an active proposal to educate and bring scheduled Healing Touch sessions to the staff in her multi-disciplinary department.

Heather complements her clinical background with a passion for mind-body techniques.  She has practiced and taught Tae Kwon Do, and is a dedicated student of Tai Chi Chuan.  Having a long time interest in yoga and related philosophy, she has completed several teacher trainings, has instructed group yoga classes, and is currently taking a return deep dive into her personal yoga practice, and returning to teaching.  Heather’s personal and professional development remains a priority, even in new found retirement, as she is embarking on the path of becoming a yoga therapist.  Always aware of opportunities to live Healing Touch, she volunteers often to join Healing Touch for Animals providing energy work for some amazing horses at a local equine therapy center.
